AHS is seeking a PD RN to work varied hrs / week in the Pre-Admin Test Dept. at Overlook Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions: Utilize Nursing Assessment skills; evaluate Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health; complete Initial Nursing Assessment; assesses pain using appropriate pain intensity scale and determines current coping mechanisms; assess patients home medications and potential for interactions with anesthetic agents and/or contraindications for proposed surgery; include over-the-counter drugs, herbals, and vitamin supplements; educate patient patients to, and answers questions for, the proposed surgical procedure; maintain complete and accurate documentation using a variety of computer applications; facilitate patient readiness for Preoperative Evaluation and Anesthesia Evaluation Centers physician examinations; secure clinical testing results and assists with exam, if indicated; maximizes Patient Satisfaction by consistently responding to patient/family concerns in a courteous, positive, and timely manner; utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of care for patients served, through the model of Shared Governance, collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidenced based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families, demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values (Professionalism, Respect, Involvement, Dignity and Excellence) in every aspect of their job, and have excellent communication and computer skills. Valid NJ Nursing License and BSN required. Must have 5 plus years of Preoperative area experience. Hours: 7am-6:30pm - Varied days / week, minimum of one Saturday AM per month.
